We all have nicknames for our dogs. Usually many. Most of the time these nicknames are completely different from their given names.
Names carry energy, just like all words.
The wrong nickname can make your pet feel very bad.
When you are using nicknames please sure sure the nickname has good energy. Make sure it is positive. Otherwise, your pets self esteem will suffer and your pet may develop nuisance behaviors as an effect. Your pet’s energy will be affected by any name you use to address your pet.
I am guilty of a lesser than ideal nickname for one of my dogs but it came with genuine joy and entertainment. “Wreck” or “Wrecky” or “Wrecky Decky Do” as we often call him was given because he destroyed EVERYTHING as a puppy. However, this has NOT affected his energy because we always laughed about it. We found GENUINE humor in how destructive he was and how he wrecked everything he came in contact with.
Because we have genuine entertainment and joy from it, the name carries good energy for him. He is comical and silly. GENUINE is the key emotion here.
Now if I address my pet as “stupid”, “stinky”, “dirty dog”, “fat cat” or “Pain in the A$$” that will affect a pet’s self esteem. If I address my pet at “beautiful”, “silly”, or use a nickname like “Sunshine”, the pet will have high self-esteem.
There are some REALLY funny nicknames out there for pet’s. I laugh at many. I love hearing them. But some are just poor energy for pets. Pet’s can’t take jokes. They don’t understand jokes. So choose nicknames wisely. But have fun with them! Because if it is fun, your pet enjoys that too!
