Animals live in the moment. At the moment we leave, whether for a minute, an hour, a day, or a week, they want to go with us.
Once we are gone, they are again living in the moment, happy, relaxed, and no longer “sad” about us leaving without them.
Whether gone a minute, an hour, a day, or a week, our return excites them! To them, a minute, an hour, a week, etc is all the same.

However, animals know routine. If we leave every day at 7am and return at 2pm they will expect us at 2pm. When we don’t return at our usual time they worry, they look for us.
So when we take a vacation and are gone for an extended amount of time they look for us.
So what can you do? Talk to your pet. Be clear and honest.
Tell them:
* How long you are leaving
* Where you are going
* Who is watching over them
* When you will be home
If you are bringing your pet to a place to be cared for, other than their home, tell them * You Will Return To Get Them*. Be clear it is a temporary arrangement and they will be coming back home.
Doing these simple things will reduce your pets worry and stress.
Always remember, communicate with your pets like you would with another human. They are a member of your family and they love you. They understand your words.
