When we have to say Good Bye to one of our pets the pain is quite literally heart breaking. Though my heart always breaks into a million pieces I know personally, I could never go a day without a dog in my home. I could never have a day without a feral cat in my barn. I could never have a day without a horse in my barn.
Though you should never rush into getting another animal until you are ready, most humans hold out because of guilt. They don’t want their angel pet to feel replaced, forgotten or unloved.
Our animals KNOW they were loved. They want us to move on. They don’t want to see us in sadness (though they know grieving is an unavoidable process). They know the joy animals bring to our lives. They want us to get another as soon as we are ready.
Every angel animal I have talked to has said the same thing. They never feel replaced, forgotten or unloved. They WANT their guardians to open their home to another animal as soon as possible. They know the new animal will help the healing. It’s their job!
But, sometimes we open our homes to a new animal but can’t open our hearts right away. It’s very hard to do because we know eventually we will fall in love and have our hearts broken all over again. We protect our hearts. We compare our new pet to our last.
Those things are not fair to the new pet even though they are very “human” reactions. Our pets only know love. They only know they have been chosen and they walk into our life optimistically thinking this is going to be the best family ever! They walk in ready to be the best they can be and try the hardest they can.
If we hold back from loving them, they don’t know why. If we compare them to another, they don’t know why. I’m not saying it’s easy to open right up. I’m just asking you to try to see things through your animals perspective. Both the angel and new.
Your angel wants to see you smile again into the new eyes of a beautiful soul that is ready to love you as deeply as your angel does. Your angel is waiting to send you just the right animal to help you heal, learn, laugh and love again. Your new animal is optimistically excited about how wonderful this new union will be. Your new animal is walking in, ready to heal your heart, make you laugh and love again, and teach you a few things along the way.
There should not be guilt. Instead try to feel an openness to the beautiful soul that is already out there waiting for you to open your home and let yourself be loved again.
