Have you ever thought about a special day for your pet? An entire day doing what your pet wants to do?
It would mean so much to them! I can promise you that.
Having an entire day, or even a half day, with a special activity that you know your pet would love, but doesn’t usually get to do would be what pets call “The Best Day Ever!”.
I mean, you could even make a whole weekend of out if if you want to… your pet will think the longer the better!
It could be a field trip to a special place you know they love (a mountain hike, a store, a lake, maybe a picnic).
It could be a special game they like (maybe catnip if they don’t usually get that)
It could be a shopping spree – bring them to pick out some toys, or bring a bunch of new toys home.
It could be a trail ride or beach ride (if you usually work your horse in the arena)
It could be a BBQ or a Birthday Party for them!
The most important parts:
* It has to be what THEY love, not what you love or what you want them to love
* You have to be present. Please make them feel important by staying off your phone the whole time and focusing your gaze, presence, and words on them instead of constantly on another human. Participate with them instead of trying to do your own thing (multitasking). Its more fun if you are doing it WITH them. Not if you are just going through the motions but with distracted. Be present and SHARE in their excitement with them!! You don’t have to like the activity, THEY DO! That’s the point.
They give us a lifetime. Can you give them a day?
I wish I had the words to explain how special this is to animals. It is something they will remember for their entire life. It is something that makes them feel loved and appreciated and valued. It is something that makes them feel important.
Their happiness is immeasurable even after returning to their home or their every day life.
