Love The Pet You Have, Not the One Your Dream Of

As humans we love our pets so much we want to include them in everything. However we must remember they have emotions, feelings, and boundaries like humans do.

There are so many animals with fears, baggage, and uncertainties, especially now in the era of adopting animals with unknown pasts.

These animals should never be forced to be social if they aren’t comfortable. They should never be forced to be in situations that scare them or trigger bad memories.

You may want a dog that wants to go eat at cafes with you. But the dog you got may get scared in that environment. You may have a cat that you want to join your parties. But that cat might be fearful in crowds or fearful of kids.

In these situations, leave your pet at home, or put your pet in a quiet room alone. This is better for them! They are happier, more relaxed, and will trust you more for doing this for them. I promise!

Humans go to therapy for years to cope with past abuse and trauma yet we expect animals to adapt instantly or quickly. Allow your animals the same compassion. Give them space. Give them a quiet place where they feel safe. Give them a understanding instead of trying to force them to be something they aren’t.
