Foster Pets

Sometimes. You should tell them. But be sure to tell them why they are in foster and they are worthy. You do not want them to feel abandoned or unwanted when they relocate again.

Animals feel when they are abandon, unwanted, and unloved. It hurts their self esteem. Animals are optimistic beings. They are excited about new possibilities when entering a new home. Many animals want to stay where they are. They ask to stay.

Some animals say they know it is a temporary spot for them and they are looking for someone else or a different environment.

Some animals want to stay but understand the foster process.

Some animals feels more abandonment, unworthiness, and shame when they know they have to leave again.

We want to prevent the last one from happening.

When I communicate with animals in foster it helps them a lot. I can find out what their ideal home life is. I can find out how they feel and relay their to their foster guardian so they can work the pet through it.

But, a foster guardian can do the same. Talk to your foster. Explain the process. Tell your foster it is loved, valued, wanted and so much more. Tell your foster how wonderful he/she is. Explain with love and positively WHY the foster must go to its forever home and why your home is not their forever home.

Don’t lie. Don’t sugarcoat it. They are too smart. Too intuitive. Make them feel wanted, loved, and valued while you have them. And when the day comes to say Good Bye, tell the you’ll miss them. You love them. They are WANTED. They are valued. And you are excited to see them blossom. And equally as excited to help the next animal that needs a temporary spot to land.

Animals are masters of one-ness. The want all animals to be loved, valued and wanted. If they know they must move on to make room for another to be safe, they will understand and be happy.

But you will still have the occasional foster that begs to stay where they are because they’ve fallen in love with their foster guardian. They look at you a certain way. You just know. Those are hard. Real hard. Look deep into your heart and make the right decision for everyone involved.
