Treats & Snacks!

My Family laughs at me because I give my dogs such SMALL treats.

Here’s the deal.

Animals aren’t like people. Their *satisfaction* from a human giving them a treat is NOT based on size. It is the connection of human to animal. The touch. The sharing.

Every single time I eat, I share with my dogs. Sometimes it is my own food, sometimes their dog snacks. But every time. I share 5 or 6 (on average) bites with them each time. Over the course of a day, between sharing when I eat, or just giving them snacks for rewards, they probably get 30 “snacks” a day. Sounds like a lot right? But they are so small it is not that much.

How would you feel if someone ate in front of you and didn’t share?! Especially when it is something you want!

I am all about creating meaningful relationships with my animals and that means sharing, all the time.

Here is a photo of how small their *shares* are. Tiny, right? Why?

I have pitbulls, big dogs. So it is not about dog size.

It’s about the connection of me sharing with them. If I gave them too much, they’d be overweight and unhealthy. So I give just enough to create connection. To show them they are noticed and loved.

They know when I am eating if they come over I will share. Sometimes they come over, sometimes they don’t. When they come over they sit and wait patiently and quietly because they know sharing is coming.

They don’t beg. They ask, they wait. And I share. Every time.

Our pet’s just want to be included in every part of our lives. They want to feel loved, valued, and appreciated. Creating that connection through the simple sharing of a teeny tiny piece of food means to much to them. And you can do it SO many times each day.
