Time With Your Pet

So many guardians feel guilty about not spending enough time with their pets.

Yes our pets love the time they get with us. They want as much as they can get. They’d spend every minute with us if they could…. Ok well most of them would:)

But they also are the most understanding loyal and selfless beings that exist. If you are busy – gone a lot – take the time to acknowledge your dog when you leave and when you return – even if you only run into the house for 3 minutes.

If you have work to do at home, sit with your pet and do it. Talk to your pet while you clean. Make ten 2 minute connections with your pet if that’s all you have.

Sometimes 10 connections seem like more time to a pet than one 30 minute connection because of frequency.

And if you aren’t home much it’s ok! Your pet is still happier home, sleeping, relaxing in a comfortable and safe environment.

They don’t judge. They understand. They know they are loved.

So even if the connection is brief, one quick kiss for your pet before you leave wont make you late. And greeting them as soon as you get home will make them happy without taking any of your extra time.

It’s not you being away from home that makes them lonely. It’s being ignored by their human when their human is home, or being ignored when their human gets home and the pet is showing excitement to see that human, that’s what makes them lonely.

Remember even if you only left for 5 min- your pet will be excited to see you when you walk back through that door. Show them you are just as excited to see them – every single time you walk in the door – even after 2 minutes – and it won’t matter how long or short of a time you are out of the home, the pet will feel loved and happy.
